1. SEO OPTIMIZED BLOG DESIGN TO RANK HIGHER IN GOOGLE
Many do not consider blog design to be an SEO technique. But you have to keep it in mind that blog design is the first thing that anyone notices when they come to your blog. If your blog design is not attractive enough then it will not attract the reader. And there is a lot more to blog design optimization in SEO than just placing a nice pic on your blog. There are a few things you should keep in mind while designing your blog. Let’s discuss it.
I. 20% people see the bottom of your blog
It is a known fact that only 20% of the readers read your complete post. Others just scan your post for headlines and then leave. These 20% goes to the bottom of the blog and scan something important, which they might like. Rest 80% only scan headlines and assume they know the rest. They even don’t care to see if there is anything interesting on your blog.
So only the people who read your complete post reach to the bottom of your blog. So always remember to keep all the important information on the top of your page. Which means all your latest posts, Email subscription box, and any other vital information should be on the top of your page.
II. Create pillar posts
Pillar posts are the most awesome and most vital information you could provide. This post should be so good that everyone coming to your blog wants to read. You do create this post by clicking a new post. We create this post on a page. This post should be a long one. For it to be a good pillar post it should be a minimum of 3-4000 words. You can make it longer if you want.
Now create the link to these posts on the top of your page with some pictures or art that would attract the reader. Keep the links of the post on the top for everyone to see. This will help you tie the reader with your blog for long.
III. Design your site for speed.
You won’t believe when I tell you that when the speed of Google search results was reduced by 400 milliseconds the no. Of search reduced by a half percent. You can use Google Page Speed Tool to check the speed of your blog. After you do that click on enable compression and then Google will show you the parts of the blog you can improve. This will boost your blog speed.
IV. Small images
Not by dimensions but by size. Keep your images under 40 KB. And the pic should be in jpeg format. If it is not in jpeg format get tools and convert it. This will help you load the posts faster. The reader is very impatient. He will not wait for your post to load. If it takes longer than normal to load the reader will go away. And heavy big images slows down the speed of the post. We don’t need that so use small light images in your post so that your post is easy and fast to load.
V. Limited Links
We should not insert unnecessary links in our blog. Forced links are not a good SEO practice. Yes we should have quality backlinks and internal links in our post. But when we insert forced links in our post Google will consider it a spam post.
It is not considered good practice to insert more than 100 links in a post. Yes you can insert 100links in the post. But always remember not to insert spam links or links to other people’s blogs without permission.
VI. Limit your ad space.
Never overcrowd your blog with unnecessary ads. Yes we are doing it for money and your blog may be an affiliate blog so you have to insert ad links in your blog. But the reader of the blog never wants to see all the ads. Always put ads in your blog that is working for you. Keep a limited ad spot on your blog. Experiment with different ads and see which ads are working most for you. Keep those ads in your blog.
Always keep experimenting with those ads because keeping the same ad on the blog will eventually stop bringing results to your blog. Keep changing the ads and see what is working. It will change with time.
VII. Make a Beautiful Blog
Every beautiful thing gets appreciation. A beautiful blog will help you tie your reader. If your blog looks are not up the mark then the blog will not be able to tie the reader. Which would mean small sessions of the reader on your blog? And when there are small sessions then Google takes it as a negative mark and reduces your ranking. Which will hurt you?
Another reason why you need to make your blog beautiful is that it works as an eye charmer. A beautiful blog will always be liked by the user. Now doing that is very easy. If you have a WordPress blog then you can apply many beautiful themes on your blog. Many of the themes are free and if they are not up to the mark for you then you can always but new themes that match your niche from themeforest.net. Go check out some themes.
VIII. Navigation for your Blog for better SEO
Navigation is the part of the blog which helps the reader from one page to the other. There should be clean and simple navigation. One should never have any problem while searching for any specific post. Basically one should be able to see the links, Internal or backlinks, or any affiliate links clearly. if the reader wants to see a link at a specific place then it should be there. if the reader is able to go places in your blog without any problems then he will spend more time on your blog.
If the reader has problems finding any specific post in your blog then he may lose interest in your blog and go find the required data from somewhere else. You know there are many blogs that are offering him the same information. We are not providing any information that anyone else is not providing. But the reader is here because he likes our ideas, post, or videos. He is here because he likes what you make but if he cannot find the desired result due to the navigation problem then he might not come back.
2. SEO OPTIMIZING BLOG POST TO RANK HIGHER IN GOOGLE
you have to optimize your blog post to get the most out of it. There are a few tricks and tips for the same. The blog post is the data that the reader came to your blog searching for. To make your blog post SEO friendly you should:
I. Perfect URL Structure
When someone sees your URL he should instantly know what the post is all about. If you have a WordPress blog which most of the bloggers are using there is a general setting that will help you convert your blog title into a blog post URL. this is great which makes it easy for the reader to remember the blog post URL. It also helps the reader understand what the post is about.
I follow few rules while finalizing my post URL
- Avoid Using Dates in the URL
- Use dashes instead of underscores
- use Lowercase letters instead of Capital letters
II. Use WordPress SEO friendly Plugins
WordPress offers thousand of paid and premium plugins. One should install as many plugins as he needs on his blog. But I recommend these three plugins which will help you SEO optimize your Blog.
- Yoast SEO Plugin: This is the most popular SEO plugin. t has been installed more than 5 million times as of today and more than 27000 reviews. This plugin comes in free and premium packages. If you are a new blogger then a free pack would be enough for you. This plugin will help you write an SEO friendly blog post and will help you fix the problems in your post.
- Google XML Sitemap. this is a Google plugin that will help you generate a sitemap of your blog and submit it to google. This sitemap helps google send crawlers to your blog. These crawlers will help google find different pages and posts on your blog.
- W3 Total Cache: This is a great plugin that would help you improve the speed of your blog.
III. Internal Links
Internal Links are the links that redirect the reader to another related post. this helps us to provide more value to the reader about the subject. Links from authoritative post to a relatively new post shows Google that both posts are important, which helps you increase your blog ranking. With the help of Internal links you can also increase the session time of the user.
IV. Focus Keyword
Focus Keywords are the keywords which we submit at the bottom of the post. these keywords are the one which will help the google searcher find the posts on the Google. Google uses these keywords to understand what is in your post. You can also use different keywords in the blog post body to SEO optimize your Post. The more work you do to make a list of these keywords the more SEO friendly your post will be. You can find these keywords from many tools available in the market.
The most popular tool out there is Google Keyword planner. Other than that you can use Keyword Anywhere – A chrome extension that can help you find the best keywords. SEMrush is also a great tool to find the Focus keyword that you should use in your blogpost at different places to get the best SEO result out of it.
The title is the first thing anyone sees even before coming to your blog. A title should be so intriguing that the reader gets there one look at it and want to read it. the title for any post should be made by you keeping in mind the reader. What he wants, Why would he want to read this post? The answer to his problem should be reflecting in the title.
There is one more thing you should keep in mind. the title should never be misleading. Always provide what you have promised the reader in the title. I cannot stress enough on this. If you have a rock-solid title and your post is not what you have promised the reader in the title then the great title is of no use. After reading the post the reader should be clear of what he wanted to know. He should not be ending up confused not knowing what to do next. The most click demanding post title includes any one of the following:
- Question eg Do you know how to rank your post higher in Google?
- Lists: eg. Five ways to rank your post higher on google?
- How To eg. How to rank your post higher on Google?
- Secrets: eg. Secret everyone is hiding from you on ranking your page higher on Google.
- Mistakes: eg. 3 Mistakes everyone makes which did not let you rank your post higher in Google.
Basically all the titles up there are saying the same thing but which you have to use is up to your reader and how you understand his demand. Now there are some rules you should follow to write a great Blog Post Title:
- Keep it under 60 characters.
- Use focus Keyword Once
- Don’t stuff it with different keywords.
- Keep the title natural and clean for the reader.
VI. Meta Description
A meta description is a small detail of the post we write under the title of the post. This description helps us to give a brief description of the post. This is just like a small introduction of what the reader should expect in the post. So let’s see the rules to write this description:
- A brief detail of what the reader will find in the post
- Try to create the interest of the reader so that he wants to open and read the full article.
- It would a good SEO practice to use the focus keyword here.
- Keep the description under 150 characters.
According to many studies only 20 % of the readers read your full blog posts. As I am ready to mention it before also that 80% of the readers only scan the post only for the heading and assumes that they know the rest. So for those 80% readers you should have a clean, descriptive heading. A heading should be self-explanatory. Well these are the techniques you can use to optimize your blog SEO. there are some other things which can do to rank your blog higher in google.
3. Scan your Opponent
You can scan your opponent on what you are going to write about. Basically you have to find the post which any of your opponents has written and is ranking higher on google. Now create a post that would provide more value to your target audience than that top-ranking posts of your opponent. The key thing here to grasp is that your content should provide more value to the reader.
To do this perfectly after reading the post go to SEMrush and find all the keywords that are on that post. Make a list of all those keywords and use them in your post. Now you have a post that provides more value than your opponent’s post and has all the keywords he is using. This will surely optimize your post to rank higher on Google through SEO.
4. Lastly Write
Yes, write, and write regularly. The most important way to bring in the traffic on your site is to write regularly. Even if the top-ranking bloggers stop writing on their blogs they see a drop in readers’ visit. If you want to blog then you have to get this right. you have to write regularly. Whenever the reader comes on your blog he is hoping to see something new on your blog. Give him that. If he does not get something new to see time he comes he will start getting disappointed and will eventually stop coming to your blog.
If you cannot write constanly then hhire oome heto doit for you. there are many ways to do so. You can find many content writers on Facebook. You can go on some freelancing sites and post jobs there. the freelllag sites like upwork & freelancer. But the most imporant thing here is that you should upload new content regularly on your blog.
- Organic traffic is the main source of traffic for the bloggers
- Traffic on your blog is dependent on how frequently you post new content on it.
- Write in-depth articles, which are better than your opponent, in such a way that it is shared and linked by your target audience.
- Use WordPress and its free and premium plugins to optimize your blogs, post, and pages.
- There are 1.5 billion websites in the world and the no is increasing. So go for it. But if you have any doubt for the same then read this post” Should I Start a New Blog in 2020?”
